robert-the-guideRobert was born and raised in Arusha, Northern Tanzania. After finishing secondary school he did a guiding course in Arusha, but then went to the USA to study automotive engineering. After obtaining his degree he came back to Tanzania to work as a mechanic and in 2000 began his guiding career. Working as a resident guide for four years gave him valuable experience and he moved on to become a freelance guide before becoming a permanent safari guide.

Robert enjoys being in the bush, a passion inspired by his uncle who was a professional hunter. He doesn’t have a favorite park but says every park has unique and special places. His interests stretch beyond nature and he is very well read and will recommend interesting books such as “Guns, Germs and Steel” by Jared Diamond or “The State of Africa” by Martin Meredith. Among the guides Robert is known for his wicked sense of humour.
