Mountain climbing

Spectacular Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa – its peak at 5,895 metres. Towering over the plains of Tanzania and Kenya, it is considered the highest “walkable” mountain in the world – the ultimate adventure for climbers in Africa.

We highly recommend the Rongai or Lemosho routes, as opposed to the more commercial (hence more crowded) Marangu or ‘Coca Cola’ route.  See our Climbing & Walking Safaris section for detailed route descriptions.

However, Kilimanjaro is not the only peak that makes Tanzania a climber’s paradise. Mount Meru and the active volcano Ol Doinyo Lengai are highly challenging peaks that offer amazingly rewarding views from their summits. Mount Meru also boasts great wildlife viewing during the ascent.

Safety is our priority - your mountain guides are highly competent and well trained.  We also offer equipment hire so that you don’t have to travel on safari with your mountain hardware!  Contact us for more details on how to arrange a climbing adventure combined with safari in Tanzania.
