Home to the Great Migration; the largest wildlife movement on earth and a captivating natural spectacle. A perilous trek with crocodiles lurking at river crossings and lion, cheetah and leopard being a constant threat. Every year over 1.5 million wildebeest and zebra migrate from Kenya’s Maasai Mara all the way through Tanzania’s Serengeti. The migration typically moves throughout this ecosystem from mid-October to mid-August, with straggling herds even year-round. During the calving season (Dec-March) the herds move to the southern plains and Ndutu region. Then onward, north toward the Seronera Valley come April and May. With excellent resident game, the central part is great to visit year round, even during the rainy season with much fewer people around. Towards June, the central area forms a good base to explore slightly north and west toward the Grumeti river. By mid-July, the herds are concentrated in the far north until end October, where you can witness the famous river crossings. Our team will always ensure you are in the best location for migration viewing opportunities.
