Day 1, 2 & 3
Transfer to DAR – flight – Selous Impala Camp
In the morning you will transfer to the domestic terminal at Dar Es Salaam Airport for your flight to Siwandu Airstrip in the Selous. You will be met and go on a short game drive en route to the camp. Over the next few days spend your time on safari either game driving, on a boat safari or walking – you have the choice of 2 activities each day.
**Walking safaris may be available instead of game drives, for clients staying 2 or more nights; subject to permission from park authorities. (This activity is paid directly)

Only 200 km West of Dar es Salaam lies the mighty Selous Game Reserve, one of Africa’s least known yet wildest conservation areas. Fed by the mighty Rufiji River, the largest river in East Africa which drains most of South Western Tanzania’s water, this reserve is home to over 1,000,000 large animals and is home to over half of Tanzania’s elephant population. Selous is unique among reserves in Tanzania as it encompasses an area exclusively devoted to tourism in its Northern part, making up for about 10% of the reserve’s total size.
Impala Camp - There are just seven luxury tents set on high wooden decking with magnificent views of the river and of the forest beyond. The colonial period furniture transports the guest into past eras of exploration and adventure.
Each tent has a dressing room and an en-suite bathroom and there is a double zipped entrance to keep out insects, and roll down canvas on the windows.
The tents are spread over a large area, ensuring maximum privacy; each has its own veranda overlooking the Rufiji. Maasai askaris guide visitors to and from their tents at night, or if there are animals around.

Day 4, 5 & 6
Flight to Ruaha Airstrip – Mwagusi Safari Lodge
In the morning you will be transferred back to the airstrip for your flight to Ruaha National Park. Once again you are met by a guide from the camp, who will then drive you the 20 minutes to Mwagusi. After lunch, enjoy a game activity this afternoon. Overnight for three nights at Mwagusi Safari Lodge.
The next two days you will enjoy 2 excursions per day. There is a choice from 2 game drives or 1 game drive and 1 boat safari. As an alternative you can opt for a full day game drive with picnic lunch. There are early morning bird walks for guests wishing to participate.
Walking safaris, accompanied by an experienced guide is one of the highlights of Mwagusi's safari adventure. (This activity is paid directly)
Ruaha National Park is Tanzania's second largest national park and is second to none in species diversity due to its unique location between hemispheres. Apart from the park's diverse mammal species, Ruaha National Park is a birder's paradise with 526 species & counting.
Mwagusi Safari Lodge - Nestled into a bank of the Mwagusi Sand River, this small exclusive tented camp overlooks a watering hole in the riverbed. The sight of over 2,000 buffalo flooding the riverbed below the tents and dining banda is not uncommon.
The 10 tents are designed within thatched bandas each with high density mattresses, dressing table, wardrobe, luggage racks and safari chairs all built in the traditional style of the camp. Solar powered lights as well as a number of traditional hurricane lamps provide lighting. At the front of each banda is a large covered veranda with a table and armchairs made from local materials. Each banda has an en suite bathroom with flush loo and hot shower. The best of game viewing can be experienced from the seclusion of your veranda.
Day 7, 8 & 9
Flight to Dar Es Salaam Airport & flight to Saadani Safari Lodge
You will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight to Dar es Salaam Airport. From there you will catch another short flight to Saadani.
Over the next 3 days you can either spend your time relaxing at the lodge on the beach or you can book some of the half day activities which include a river safari, game drive, sea safari and walking safari (all payable at the lodge).
Saadani Safari Lodge is the only lodge in the National Park, the Indian Ocean breaks almost to the foot of your bed directly onto African Bush and forces it way into the Wami River on the rising tide, just down the coast. The lodge is small and intimate, with just nine individual tented cottages set along the beach, cooled by soft ocean breezes an d shaded by casherina trees. Cottages are twin or double with swathes of sail cloth adorning the ceilings, large romantic Zanzibar style nets and locally carved furniture. The Lodge is a delicate blend of rustic chic and eco-cool.

Day 10
