While travelling around the world for a year, UK-born Rachel Marshall found herself in Cape Town and decided to stay, permanently. On her first safari experience in Kruger National Park, she saw rhino during a night drive and instantly fell in love with the African wilderness. This led her to pursue a career in the safari industry, where she could share similar incredible experiences with guests from around the globe.
Since being hooked by the safari bug, Rachel has explored South Africa, Mozambique, Lake Malawi, Zambia, by bus no less, and even Madagascar. She has also visited several national parks in Zimbabwe, Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, and Tanzania. Rachel’s favourite part of a safari is the nighttime ambience: the sounds of the bush, the huge African sky with its millions of stars… They all combine to create a very special sensory experience.
TOP PICK:
Botswana for the flat land and big skies. It also offers a fantastic combo of land and water activities.
TRAVEL TIP:
Bring binoculars. Even if you are up close, seeing the extra detail like the giraffe’s eyelashes takes it to a whole new level.
